The time has come, the bags are packed, all that’s missing is the plane to whisk me away. High school is over, and real-life is about to start.
It is strange to think that only four years ago I began my life as a highschooler. It feels like it was just yesterday that I was at orientation, wide-eyed and nervous about what would come. You could very well say that the same look has come back for this new journey, but this time, it is something I couldn’t be more excited to start. It’s great to journey to another place, “a world away”, and establish yourself as the way you see yourself. With this always comes a large responsibility of not losing yourself and making sure you don’t venture too far from reality. Nevertheless, it is an amazing opportunity to meet new people, engage with new learning opportunities and get to know me a bit better.
At this point, I would like to take a moment to thank anyone and everyone who has helped me get to this point in my life. Educators and faculty- you know who you are! You have helped me grow into the curious and thoughtful student I am today. Thank you for allowing me to explore this crazy, uncharted world through education. Friends- you have made me laugh and let me be myself unconditionally, allowing me to enjoy any moment. I wish you all the best on your own journey. Don’t forget about this awesome place we call home!
Lastly, but most importantly, thank you, parents, for all of your hard work and dedication to help me become the young woman I am today, helping me traverse this captivating and vivid world. I strive to make you proud with every passing day and cannot wait to show you what I am capable of.
Best of everything to you all,
your daughter, your friend, your student, your world traveler: Kat Zender
